Cognitive Distortions 101

When we are feeling stressed, anxious or depressed, our brain more easily enters patterns of destructive thinking known as cognitive distortions. These thoughts are typically based on our feelings and ironically lead us to feel even worse.


Knowing when our brain is entering these patterns due to our anxiety or low mood, we can more easily navigate picking a different thought pattern. The more we practice this, detaching ourselves from a thought process, the more easily we can regulate our emotional experience.
